At eight pouches a day, a $6 can containing 15 pouches works out to about $97 a month and $1,168 a year. At one can a day, the same price becomes $182.50 a month and $2,190 a year.

Those are examples, not market averages. Whether you use ZYN, VELO, or another brand, your receipt and daily count will give you a more useful answer than a typical price found online.

Monthly and yearly spending at a glance

Every row below assumes $6 per can and 15 pouches per can. The dollar sign represents the currency of the price you enter; there is no currency conversion. These daily counts illustrate the arithmetic and are not estimates of typical use.

Pouches per dayDaily costAverage monthYearly cost
4$1.60$48.67$584
8$3.20$97.33$1,168
15 (one can)$6.00$182.50$2,190
20$8.00$243.33$2,920

An average month here is 365 days divided by 12, matching our calculator. A 30-day month will cost slightly less. Figures assume the same price and daily use throughout the year, with monthly totals rounded to cents.

These are the costs of the pouches used. Actual purchases come in whole cans, so a month's receipts may differ if you stock up or carry pouches over into the next month.

Calculate your own pouch costs

You need three numbers: the price you pay per can, how many pouches it contains, and how many you use each day. Check the pack size rather than assuming every brand or market uses the same count.

The calculation is:

Daily cost = can price ÷ pouches per can × pouches per day

For the eight-a-day example, that is $6 ÷ 15 × 8 = $3.20 a day. Multiply by 365 to get $1,168 a year, then divide by 12 to get $97.33 per average month. Over five years at the same rate and price, the total is $5,840.

Enter your own numbers below. The calculator opens with its usual defaults, which differ from the $6 example in the table.

The money totals describe continuing at your entered daily count. Selecting a taper adds a schedule; it does not subtract projected taper savings from those totals.

What changes the total?

Price per can. Use what you actually pay. For a multipack, divide the amount paid by the number of cans. Include tax and allocated delivery charges if you want an estimate of your full spending.

Pouches per can. A cheaper can is not necessarily cheaper per pouch. For example, $6 for 15 pouches is $0.40 each; $6 for 20 is $0.30 each. These are arithmetic examples, not product recommendations.

Daily count. If weekdays and weekends differ, record a full week's use and divide by seven. Eight a day in the table is simply an example, not a target or a claim about the average user.

If you buy several products at different prices, calculate each separately and add the spending. The calculator accepts one can price and pack size at a time.

How much could you save by cutting down or quitting?

Using the same $6, 15-pouch example, moving from eight to four pouches a day reduces spending by $1.60 a day. If that lower count holds for a full year, the difference is $584, or about $48.67 per average month.

Stopping purchases altogether would avoid the baseline pouch spending. That is a gross saving: any replacement purchases or paid support would reduce the amount left in your budget. During a gradual taper, the saving depends on your actual daily use, so it will differ from a full year at zero.

The useful number is what you can change from here. If you want to turn that into a written reduction plan, our guide to tapering off nicotine pouches includes a worked schedule. If you are still choosing an approach, read the cold turkey versus taper comparison.

Common questions

How much does ZYN cost per month?
It depends on your price per can, pouches per can, and daily use. As an illustration, eight pouches a day from a $6 can containing 15 pouches costs about $97.33 per average month, or $1,168 per year. This is an example, not a quoted ZYN retail price.
How do you calculate nicotine pouch spending?
Divide the can price by the number of pouches in it, then multiply by pouches used per day. Multiply daily cost by 365 for a year, and divide that annual amount by 12 for an average month.
Does choosing a taper change the calculator's cost totals?
No. The cost totals show spending if you continue at the daily count you entered. The taper schedule is separate; those totals do not calculate spending or savings during the taper.
